On my flight home from a business trip to Austin, TX, I sat near a lady from Iran who told me fascinating stories of her family’s conversion to Christianity from Islam. I’ll call her “Susan.”
It started with one of her sons, who had spent the night at a friend’s house and was surprised at how peaceful it felt there. The next day, out of curiosity and courtesy, he went with the owner of the house, a Christian pastor, to a church, where he found himself praying to God for several hours. God began a good work in him, and shortly thereafter told his mom that he was a Christian. Susan was surprised at this and wanted her husband to speak with him in an effort to get him to reconsider Islam, but the son was determined to remain a believer.
Then, one night the son’s father had a dream about Jesus, which startled him so much he turned on the lights, woke up his wife to tell her about it, and became a Christian because of it. Not long after this, Susan became a believer too, followed by her other children.
The family converted their large house into a place of worship for other believers in the area, but the Iranian government heard about it, and not long after killed Susan’s husband because of it. She and her family have since relocated to the United States.
Susan has completely surrendered her life to Jesus and seeks to be a tool for Him. The Holy Spirit works powerfully in her to guide her decisions. It was a joy for both of us to learn of how God has worked in our lives to serve His Son.
